Day 5 of the Raw Food Diet

Posted on Nov 1st, 2007 by Lisa : Dreamer Lisa
I can't believe it. I am up at 6:30 am this morning cutting up cabbage and cucmbers.
My coffee maker has been on vacation. This is really wierd but I like it. I feel good this morning!  I'm not doing the green smoothie thing this morning.

I've lost 4 pounds. I know this is probably water. But I feel thinner. I haven't been hungry once although yesterday my stomach was growling but it wasn't hunger. I'm realizing what I thought before was hunger before wasn't hunger at all.

I'm just so proud of making it through my first Halloween without candy. This is big! I don't feel deprived either. This is the only diet I have ever been on where I actually don't feel like I am missing or craving anything so far.  I ate these things called medjool dates. They are awesome but they look like big Florida cockroaches.

O well time to get ready for the day.

Day 6 on the raw food diet

Posted on Nov 2nd, 2007 by Lisa : Dreamer Lisa
My day started with a green smoothie drink. I put half a cucumber, a little spinach, celery, water, ice and some cayenne pepper in my magic bullet. I drank about half of it. The pepper really woke me up this morning.

For lunch I had a cabbage salad with cucumbers, carrots, vinegar, salt and pepper.
I enjoyed it. I even shared some with a few coworkers who were also surprised at how good it tasted. I also ate a banana.

When I got home from work I ate two dried dates. Yummm.

Amazingly enough I don't crave anything. But there was some left over fried chicken in the fridge that wanted me.  I would throw it out but my son and husband have to eat.

Today I feel so calm almost like I'm on valium or something. My thoughts aren't racing.
I really like the way I feel since I started this. I bet it gets better.  We'll see.

Day 9

Posted on Nov 5th, 2007 by Lisa : Dreamer Lisa
I fell off the wagon today... and this wasn't just a can of peas. This was really bad stuff.
I snapped. I ate tuna fish salad, a slice of pizza, chips and salsa and 5 bagel chips and hershey kisses. I just kept eating. I didn't feel satisfied at all. I still don't. I think the guilt I have is worse than anything.  Plus now that I am reading what I have written I really sound like I have an eating disorder.

I think I was still detoxing. I felt really irritable and angry this morning. Now I have to detox from what I did today. I was so strong and felt so confident about this raw thing. O well tomorrow's another day.

The Raw Food Detox Diet

Posted on Nov 10th, 2007 by Lisa : Dreamer Lisa
After failing at being 100% raw I became really discouraged with myself. I went to the library and picked up  "The Raw Food Detox Diet" by Natalia Rose. Great book!

She doesn't recommend going 100% raw for a preson like myself but suggests instead  to stay raw in the mornings and afternoons until dinner (until I am ready if I am ever ready again) to go 100%. The book makes so much sense to me. I love the idea of never counting calories or fat or carbs or feeling guilty as long as food is in its purest state. You can eat as much as you want.

She also explains that what matters most is the elimination of waste matter from your body. There are combinations of "quick-exit " foods that work best together.

Also she has a recipe for a green lemonade.. Its very good. Oprah and Dr Oz had a version very similar on her show last week.  I've been drinking this green drink  for the last few days. I've made different variations of it.  This morning I used the blender. It comes out thick this way like gazpacho so you have to add water.

My latest version of Green Lemonade

1 lemon or lime
1/2 cucumber
1 apple
1 stalk of celery
handful of kale or spinach
a small piece of ginger or half a jalapeno

This drink really wakes you up. I never got that from coffee. (maybe because I used so much cream and sugar)

What was your favorite childhood story?

My favorite story was "The Gift of the Magi" by O'Henry.  But I also loved all of the Aesop's fables when I was very young.

Are you a risk-taker?

Posted on Nov 10th, 2007 by Lisa : Dreamer Lisa
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 10, 2007:

I am so different now from the risk taking young 20 something I used to be. I would jump on a bus to California in the middle of the night to visit someone without telling anyone including the person I was visiting. Then I would move to Hawaii without a having a job or a plan first! I would drive down to Key West with a bunch of people (spur of the moment without packing anything) knowing good and well I had to work the next day. Wow...the memories!
The most risky thing I have done lately was not having my seat belt on.

Besides the one with my parents, my siblings and my son (which sometimes feels like eternity) I have been with my husband the longest. We've been together for almost 7 years now.
And that feels like forever too.....

In what part of your life are you the most lucky?

Posted on Nov 26th, 2007 by Lisa : Dreamer Lisa
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 26, 2007:

I feel "lucky" in all parts of my life. Because I have learned not to take everything so serious I feel "lucky" about everything. I have learned that I can't mess this thing called life up I always get more opportunites for more experiences.  No matter what I choose to do it always, always works out to my benefit no matter what. And when I choose to be non physical and depart from this body of mine, my soul will go on for eternity and be "lucky" in some other body if I so choose.
