The Raw Food Detox Diet

After failing at being 100% raw I became really discouraged with myself. I went to the library and picked up "The Raw Food Detox Diet" by Natalia Rose. Great book!
She doesn't recommend going 100% raw for a preson like myself but suggests instead to stay raw in the mornings and afternoons until dinner (until I am ready if I am ever ready again) to go 100%. The book makes so much sense to me. I love the idea of never counting calories or fat or carbs or feeling guilty as long as food is in its purest state. You can eat as much as you want.
She also explains that what matters most is the elimination of waste matter from your body. There are combinations of "quick-exit " foods that work best together.
Also she has a recipe for a green lemonade.. Its very good. Oprah and Dr Oz had a version very similar on her show last week. I've been drinking this green drink for the last few days. I've made different variations of it. This morning I used the blender. It comes out thick this way like gazpacho so you have to add water.
My latest version of Green Lemonade
1 lemon or lime
1/2 cucumber
1 apple
1 stalk of celery
handful of kale or spinach
a small piece of ginger or half a jalapeno
This drink really wakes you up. I never got that from coffee. (maybe because I used so much cream and sugar)

Help

You didn't try to go 100% raw from the start, did you?
The body isn't prepared for it…there's a process you have to go through to allow the body to adjust to it slowly.
Best wishes for your commitment to health…remember, all things in moderation ;-)
Yes I did. It worked for a little over a week. Then I broke down and went crazy and ate alot of junk. You're right I'm trying this slow to adjust.
Thank u
Lisa
oh my, my….
You see, the raw food is living food. You have living enzymes at work.
(which is why they say, if you do nothing else…add a salad to every meal…because the greens have living enzymes which eat up all the solids).
But to just jump into it…it's a shock to your system. The process actually takes something like 5-7 years or something to adjust gradually.
Best wishes…
thanks Lisa and Resurrected for these posts. I am trying to eat more raw food, and eating mostly vegetarian. Meat is very hard for me to digest, as is wheat, even with digestive enzyme tablets (even the $60/bottle ones).
I like to juice. My son bought me a juicer last xmas. I throw in a bunch of stuff, whatever I have, but usually always carrots and celery., beets, parsley. Sometimes cabbage only.
Looking forward to trying your green lemonade. Sounds yummy.
Thanks for the advice about going slow. Will check out the book you mentioned.
