This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for February 25, 2008:
hopscotch, playing dodgeball, kickball, playing hide-n-seek, catching fireflies, playing with dolls- babies and barbies, swimming, horsebackriding, riding my bike wthout any hands, skateboarding, skating at the roller rink on Friday and Saturday night, ice skating, hanging out at the mall, hearing the ice cream man coming down my street, reading, summer -when school was out, hearing the cicadas right before it got dark, and going on summer vacation with my mom and Dad in my favorite place - a Florida beach.

Help

Being outside from daylight to sunset when my Mom would come make me go in side, those were the days, I always had a job as early as 7 years old, so I could help out my mom, but making up things to do always came easy for me, we made home made skate boards out of steel wheel skates we would nail to the bottom of a board and man would those sparks fly, there was never enough hours in the day to do the things I loved to do, I only wish that the kids today could find that happiness as I did when I was growing up. Peace and Blessings. RD
Hey Ricky!
I know about home made skate boards! My son made one out of a water ski and some old skate wheels. It turned out to be a really cool long board.
I really enjoyed reading your post. Sounds very much like what I experienced too.
We spent a lot of time OUTSIDE! with friends, not holed up playing electronic games alone.
I too had a homemade scooter when i was about 4, made out of an old roller skate and some boards nailed together. We remember these homemade things. What are the kids of today going to remember? I wonder at times….
Hi Mimi!
You're right we spent most of the time outside. I've noticed myself that if I am not outside enough I feel gloomy. There's nothing like being in the sunshine or being out at night checking out the stars.
